Arieanna is new to our hive and new to Ohio, but she impressed us with her kitchen skills, can-do attitude, and insane singing voice, just like Arianna Grande! Ok, not so true for the last part (she herself told us she’s tone deaf) but we still think she’s pretty awesome. 🙂 Hailing all the way from NYC, her story of how she came to “bee” at the Sleepy Bee is true happenstance, but we couldn’t ” bee” happier to have her on the team! Read more about her and her journey below:
Walk us through your bee journey…
My bee journey was kind of accidental. My significant other and I were looking for some good breakfast food nearby (we had just moved to Ohio a month or so prior) so we just Googled top-rated breakfast spots in the area and we saw Sleepy Bee was the closest, so we went! We had breakfast and I fell in love with the whole concept the food, the atmosphere, THE MOCHA LATTE!, the difference as a company they were trying to make – it’s all very different compared to the restaurants I had worked in prior. I went on to find out they were hiring for Sous chefs and submitted my application and, with some obvious hiring and training steps in between, here I am at the Blue Ash Bee!
Not sure if it is considered “animal”, but my spirit creature would have to be a Mermaid!
Most serious hobby?
Baking. Just to get lost in time with some music and cookie batter 🙂
Day off fun?
Recently kayaking has been the route to go for fun, but I could very easily be convinced to go shoe shopping as well!
Where are you from?
The city that never sleeps! New York 🙂
Favorite Show right now?
Probably a tie between Queen of the South and Worst Cooks of America.
Most frequent dinner? / Do you eat dinner?
Breakfast foods and my guilty pleasure – PIZZA!
Tone-deaf, so that’s a no from me 🙂
I would have to say baseball is my favorite to watch and participate in!
I like to think I’m pretty crafty, whether it be a scrapbook or a whole room I just always want things to look nice or be different!!
Best Sleepy Bee special of all time?
Going along with the sweet theme, and possibly being a little bias, but I loved the eclair pancakes! Between the pastry cream, the ganache, and the mini eclairs on top – I could eat that for days!
Song that pumps you up?
The days I open the line the first song every time is by Galantis called “Tell me you love me”
Favorite secret mod of Bee food item?
Pancake roll up! You spread our buttermilk batter thin like a crepe, add two slices of bacon, a cheesy egg scramble, and roll it up to dip in syrup. YUM!
Most hilarious Bee memory?
I have to say watching the guys trying to teach our former Commisary Chef how to properly pronounce the Cardi B way of saying “Okrrtttt”. Shoutout to Laurel, OKRRRTTTTTT
Anything else you want to say?
The Sleepy Bee has definitely been a job and concept that I think a lot of chefs look to do but aren’t always able to, for a plethora of reasons, but luckily I did !
